Komodo is probably the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen, even though I’ve traveled a lot. Choosing a high-quality yacht was the right decision: waking up to a panoramic ocean view and falling asleep to the sound of the waves was simply incredible.
I wanted to get away from civilization for a few days and step outside the world we’re all so used to. Sometimes you need to go far enough from the modern world just to remember who you actually are. For me, this trip was exactly that.
Being able to watch orangutans in the wild rather than in a zoo is something really special. Our local guide clearly loves this place, and the jungle wasn’t nearly as intimidating as I had imagined. Bukit Lawang turned out to be a very cozy place.
What stayed with me the most was spending the night in Waerebo village, high up in the mountains. Watching their daily routines and talking to local people, you understand how different life can look in another part of the world. Trips like this really put things into perspective.
